Remember, the other, less important rules can come later.

A good Herd Mentality question gives your group an obvious answer to gather around, with a split or two worth arguing about. You want enough matching answers to score and someone willing to defend their choice of snack.

These 100 questions are original prompts for your group, not questions from the boxed game. Read one aloud and keep your answers covered until you've all written. Save the debate for the reveal.

Write questions for your own group

For more matches, start with a common category your group knows that has a famous top answer. An odd scenario or a long string of conditions can send you in different directions. Try a plain question first.

For more of a split, ask for the best or worst of something your group has opinions about. You might agree on which foods belong at a barbecue and disagree about which one tastes best. Avoid trivia with one correct answer. You want to predict each other's choices.

If you get a different answer from each player, return to a more familiar category. If you all match without hesitation, try a preference question.

You can use these questions for a homemade matching game with paper and pens. As a house version, record points on paper and choose an object to mark the Pink Cow penalty. For other games to offer the same crowd, browse the Big Group collection.

A rules refresher before you start

In Herd Mentality, you write an answer in private and reveal it after the group finishes. Match the most popular answer to earn a cow token. The sole player with a unique answer takes the Pink Cow and cannot win while holding it. Big Potato sets the usual target at eight cow tokens.
